Stewardship Questions and Answers

Whether you are a long-standing member or new to our community, the Annunciation Cathedral needs your support.  Your Christian Stewardship commitment provides our community with the necessary financial means to operate and maintain our Church.

What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is believing in our Church and wanting to support and keep her mission alive by making time, talent and monetary donations. Stewardship is a simple, equitable and Christian way by which each parishioner (individual or family) determines his or her contributions for the support of the Church, proportionate to his or her abilities.

Why the Stewardship Program?

Such a program eliminates inequities and places the responsibility of Church support where it belongs – in the hands of each parishioner.  It is the one way that views the support of the Church as a matter of personal commitment and conscience.  It is the way of meeting our financial obligations to our Church with Christian concern, dignity and equity.  The emphasis is on equal sacrifice, not equal giving.  We give according to our means.

Who is included in my family Stewardship commitment?

A pledging family includes husband, wife, and children under 18, or attending college and not self-supporting.

What about single working adults?

Each working, self-supporting adult over 18 can make his or her own commitment.

Who determines the level of offering?

The parishioners determine the amount(s) of their offerings. Many parishioners donate at least one percent of their income. It has been estimated that if we all contribute one percent of our income the church will be in good financial status.

Is there a specific minimum amount required?

No, there is no mandatory minimum.  However, based on the 2010 Budget approved by the parishioners at the general assembly, we are asking that you consider a minimum pledge of $13.50 per week.  We encourage everyone to set an honest and fair portion of one’s income for the ministries and support of the Church.

How do I become a pledged Steward?

Simply fill out the enclosed Stewardship Commitment Form. The form is also available at the Pangari of the Church and at the Office at the Cathedral Center.

When should I fulfill my Stewardship pledge?

Stewardship occurs on a calendar year basis.  Parishioners are asked to fulfill their pledges by December 31st of the year in which they are pledging. Of course the sooner your pledge is made the greater is the beneficial impact of your contribution. Your pledge may be given in the manner that suits you best: this may be monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or on an annual basis.

Will my pledge amount be confidential?

Yes, all pledge amounts are kept in the strictest confidence.  The names of all pledged stewards will be listed in the Church hall.

What happens if I need to revise my commitment?

You can change your pledge according to your changing situation by advising Father Cleopas or John Georgountzos (Stewardship Chairman).
