Welcome to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England

"Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain new comers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels." (Hebrews 13:1-2)

We welcome you to the Annunciation Cathedral of New England, the seat, church of the Metropolis of Boston, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston.  We are a community rich in faith and history.  From the late 1890’s the parish has dedicated its efforts to serve her faithful through worship, fellowship, outreach, education, and cultural enrichment.  We continue the vision of the Cathedral parish founders today through the liturgical, music, outreach, educational, and youth ministries of the parish.

Our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ binds us together.  Through the grace of the Holy Spirit our community calls all to the living expression of God’s life-saving mercy, compassion, and love.  The Orthodox Church finds its beginnings in the faith of the Apostles who received the ‘out-pouring’ of the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Pentecost signaling the mission of the Church to all the world.

The Annunciation Cathedral is an Orthodox faith community because we follow in the tradition of prayer and worship of the ‘One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church’; a community that gathers and welcomes the ‘grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit.’  We continue today with an historical connection to the Apostolic Church.  Through the ordination of the Orthodox clergy serving the parishes today we hold a direct lineage of ordination to the Apostles, the disciples of Jesus Christ, who were called to ‘proclaim the message of the risen Lord to all nations.’  Our parish and her faithful continue in that same calling today.

The history of the parish tells of the struggles and hard work of the faithful to gather for worship and education of language, culture, and faith.  The clergy who have led the community in the past showed innovation and wisdom which brought faithful of the parish together.  While we are honored with our history, we look today to create a new history, a new legacy for our faithful.  Located among the campuses of several universities we find ourselves the welcomed refuge for the students through the Cathedral Campus Ministry.  Understanding the needs of our neighbors leads us to reach out and help others through our community outreach ministries and the Philoptochos.  Knowing that we cannot rely upon the laurels of the past we look to encourage faithful of all ages to experience their faith in worship and action.

Join us for Sunday Worship

We invite you to join us for Sunday worship with Orthros at 8:30am and Divine Liturgy at 10:00am. We hope that you have a pleasant visit. Whether you are joining us to explore the world of Orthodoxy, just passing through, or seeking out a community, we welcome you.

Please join us downstairs in Davis Hall following services for our Coffee Fellowship. This is a great opportunity for you to meet members of our community and introduce yourself to our parish priest, and inquire about our community and Orthodoxy.

If you are participating in Divine Liturgy, please be aware that the sacrament of Holy Communion, a sign of unity of faith, is only offered to Baptized or Chrismated Orthodox Christians. However, at the end of worship as you depart the sanctuary, you are welcome to partake in the antidron, or blessed bread.

Lastly, we would love for you to fill out a visitor form so that we can better welcome and assist you during your visit.

Have Questions?

We understand how overwhelming a visit to a new church can be especially when you are visiting the community for the first time. So, if you have any lingering questions, about the community or the Orthodox faith, we invite you to reach out to the dean who will be happy to speak with you and help answer your questions!

Welcome to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England
The Orthodox Church has her origin with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, not with a human teacher, nor group, nor a code of conduct or religious philosophy.
